Tamil Nadu is famous for its historical temples. One such temple is Vendavarasi Amman temple that is located in Nellikuppam, which is about 12kms from Guduvancherry and also accessible from OMR. The temple has an history of 500 years. The main deity of the temple Vendavarasi amman is a swayambhu and When people took the idol of the goddess from the mountain to the village in a bullock cart, the axle of the cart broke and the cart came to rest at a particular spot.
In the while, a little girl got the spirit of goddess in her and told them that she should be made a temple there. With these words the villagers constructed a small temple there and named the goddess as “Vendavarasi” and worshipped her as their clan goddess. In 2007, per aagmasashtra Kumbhabhishekham was done by Thirumaialkodi Sree Narayanapeedam, Sripuram, Vellore, Arul Sakthi Amma who constructed the Golden temple. Recently in the year 2022 another Kumbhabhishekham was performed in a grand manner.
